Belgaum: Activists of the district unit of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayan Gowda faction) staged a “silent” protest here on Tuesday against the stand of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on the issue of according the “second capital” tag to Belgaum.

The activists led by the unit president Rajeev Topannavar staged a demonstration at Rani Channamma Circle and took out a procession to the Deputy Commissioner’s office where they declared to intensify their agitation if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government “failed” to make Belgaum the “second capital” of the State as had been promised by the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government.
