Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj, who is contesting from Chamarajanagar Assembly segment, on Tuesday went door to door in the villages of Harave hobli, seeking the support of voters on the basis of his commitment to develop Chamarajanagar and his contributions when he was an MLAMr. Nagaraj said that he was secular in all respects.
He said that he was committed to protecting the interest of the State’s “nela, jala and bhashe”.
He stressed the need to provide more civic amenities in rural areas, especially to women.
Mr. Nagaraj has advocated using Kannada in administration and screening Kannada films. He has inspired many protesters.
Mr. Nagaraj was elected to the Assembly five times from three different constituencies.
He won from Chamarajanagar Assembly constituency as an independent in the 1989, 1994 and 2004 elections. He lost the 1999 and 2008 elections.
