BANGALORE: Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj has decided to perform ‘urulu seve’ in 1,000 places across the State. He hopes to draw the attention of the Government to the need for steps to develop Kannada language and the State, ensure the welfare of Kannadigas, build toilets for rural women and create a special welfare board for donkeys and buffaloes.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Nagaraj said the first of his 200 ‘urulu seve’ in Bangalore alone would be in front of the Raj Bhavan on January 10.
He urged all pro-Kannada organisations to float a common forum for fielding candidates in the forthcoming elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. He said Kannadigas would have a tough time in Bangalore in the coming years if Kannada protagonists do not get elected in good numbers to the BBMP. He said he would convene a meeting of all the Kannada organisations in Bangalore soon to discuss forging an alliance.
