‘Vastranjali-2011', a five-day exhibition of handloom and silk products that started at Guru Bhavan here on Saturday, has been drawing a large crowd with people showing more interest in purchasing silk saris from Molakalmur taluk of the district.

The exhibition, which is being organised by the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, aims at popularising and promoting handloom and textile products of the district.

“The Government wants to promote handloom products of the district especially woollen products of Challakere and silk saris of Molakalmur,” said Deputy Director of Textiles and Handlooms Department. He said that the department has been organising such exhibition annually to provide a marketing platform to weavers of the district.
