Tie-ups with various foreign universities in the pipeline
Central University of Karnataka (CUK) has tied up with Carlton University in Ottawa, Canada, for a teacher and student exchange programme and has been working out similar tie-ups with Toronto University and Schulich School of Business, both in Canada, and at least three other universities in Australia.
A.M. Pathan, Vice-Chancellor of the university, and Chandrasekhar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the first batch of two or three teachers would be leaving for Carlton University shortly. To a question, Prof. Pathan said the university would enter into a memorandum of understanding with the universities for an exchange programme once the work on building infrastructural facilities on the university campus near Kadaganchi in Aland taluk in the district was completed.
Prof. Pathan said the CUK had decided to organise an entrance test for MBA, M.Com, MA English, MA Kannada, and M.Phil. in History, Economics, Geography, Psychology, Kannada, English and Commerce; and Ph.D. programmes were popular among students.
Prof. Pathan said for the other courses, including five-year integrated BA(Hons.) in Economics, Geography, Psychology, History and English, Bachelor of Business Administration, a three-year standalone course, MA Social Work, MA Economics, M.Sc. in Geospatial Applications in Regional Development and Psychology, the admissions would be through the common entrance test for Central universities jointly conducted by the universities of Kashmir, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
The notification for admission to courses for which the university will be conducting entrance examinations will be issued on May 1. The prospectus and application forms will be available from May 4.
The last date for receiving applications is June 18 and the entrance examinations will be conducted at various examinations centres on June 26.
