The use of plastic carry bags at Dasara programme venues will be regulated this year.
The subcommittee on cleanliness and maintenance has requested the other Dasara subcommittees to ensure that the venues are free from plastic.
Signboards asking visitors to keep venues and surroundings clean would be put up across the city. Reflective jackets and masks would be provided to pourakarmikas keeping in view their safety, a press release said here on Thursday.
Two mobile vans would be deployed to make announcements on maintaining hygiene.
Purushottam, president, subcommittee on cleanliness, told presspersons that a task force would be set up for monitoring cleanliness and a jatha would be taken out to spread awareness on cleanliness. Nursing students, pourakarmikas and social activists would participate in it.
He said a decision had been taken to rope in 280 pourakarmikas on contract basis to maintain cleanliness during the festivities.
A sum of Rs. 14 lakh had been sanctioned to ensure cleanliness, he added.
