Private vehicles and autorickshaws could be used for giving polio drops in urban areas and that the officials should send a proposal to the government to enhance the allowance of Rs. 650 per day for transport, said A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada.

He told a taskforce meeting that the amount spent on vehicles could be enhanced by 10 per cent. Dr. Rukmini, Reproductive Child Health Officer, said that the terrain of the district made house-to-house immunisation challenging and the number of vehicles was a limiting factor.
