The Shimoga District Congress Committee has demanded upgrade of the quality of service offered at Government McGann Hospital in the city.

In a release, the District Congress Committee has said that the quality of the service offered at McGann Hospital depleted after the status of the District Hospital it enjoyed was withdrawn. Patients from the neighbouring Davangere and Chikmagalur districts come to McGann Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the mismanagement of the hospital had disappointed the patients. Basic amenities such as clean drinking water and toilets were not provided for the patients here. The staff members of the hospital have failed to behave in a courteous manner with the patients, the DCC has said.

The doctors serving at McGann Hospital are engaged in private practice by throwing the existing laws into wind. DCC has demanded for disciplinary action against such doctors. The DCC had pressed the management of McGann Hospital to maintain cleanliness on the premises.

A delegation comprising DCC general secretary Rame Gowda and Congress leader Y.H. Nagaraj had submitted a memorandum to Medical Superintendent of McGann Hospital Lepakshi in this regard on Monday.
