HUBLI: The untimely rain in the district is likely to affect the roadshow of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, especially at Gadag.

Because of rain in the last four days, the small bridge across National Highway No. 63, between Hubli and Gadag, has been washed away and the authorities have already begun the work of restoring road connectivity.

But work is likely to get hampered if there are fresh showers in the evening. As of now, the vehicles between Hubli and Gadag are being routed through interior roads. It is not clear whether the Special Protection Group (SPG) guards would allow Mr. Gandhi to take the interior route to reach Gadag. They could use a chopper.

According to the programme, Rahul Gandhi will reach Krishi Vignan Kendra (KVK) at Hulakoti near Gadag on Thursday afternoon by road, where he will interact with a select group of farmers, agricultural scientists engaged in cotton research, and few cooperative leaders.

He will continue his roadshow to end at Badami in Bagalkot district.
