Leaders of all religions to attend programme at Mother of Sorrows Church on Friday

The Harmony Committee of Catholic Sabha, Udupi Catholic Diocese, will kick-start the Christmas celebration on the premises of the Mother of Sorrows Church here at 7 p.m. on Friday.

A press release issued here on Wednesday said that the representatives of all religions would be invited for this programme.

The objective of the programme was to send a message of harmony, peace and compassion to society. One of the major attractions of the programme would be a large sky-lantern (“gududeepa”) created in the shape of a star by Alan Mendonca, a resident of Kinnimulki. The star, six-feet long and six-feet wide, would be installed on the occasion.

Ratish Johnson, Medical Director of CSI Lombard Memorial Hospital, Gananath Yekkar, Head of the PG Department of Kannada, Tenkanidiyur Government College and PG Centre, Mohammed Rafik, Managing Director of Tonse Health Centre, and Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, would be participating as chief guests at the function.

Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Catholic Diocese, would preside over the function.

The Christmas cake would be cut on the occasion and distributed to all. Christmas songs, ballets, cultural programme by White Doves Cultural Troupe of Mangalore, would be other attractions of the programme.
