Udupi: The Artists’ Court will organise a unique art camp at Malpe beach here on December 19 and 20.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, member of the court Vishweshwara Parkala said the camp would be unique in the sense that a visually challenged person, Appu Achar, who was an expert in repairing bicycles, would participate in it. At the camp, Mr. Achar would be given all (separated) parts of a new bicycle by the organisers and he would have to assemble the piece.

While Mr. Achar assembles the bicycle, as many as 25 senior and junior artists would be drawing paintings of the process. The paintings would be of oil, acrylic, and water colour media.

All of them would be sold on the spot and the proceeds of the sales given to Mr. Achar, Mr. Parkala said. “This is an art camp with a humanitarian purpose.”

Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha will inaugurate the camp on December 19.
