For all those who have children below five years, it is time to head to the nearest Pulse Polio booth to ensure that your precious ones get the two essential polio drops on Sunday.

This is the first round of Pulse Polio immunisation and the second round will take place on February 24. Both Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Health Department officials will set up Pulse Polio booths across the city. While the civic body will cater to areas under the BBMP limits, the Health Department will operate in non-BBMP areas and in other parts of the State. The department has set up 31,400 booths across the State and over 1 lakh people will be deployed to carry out this drive.

B.N. Dhanya Kumar, Director, Health and Family Welfare Services, told The Hindu : “We want to appeal to people to bring their children to the booths. After Sunday, volunteers and health workers will go door to door for two days to ensure that all the children have taken the drops. In high risk districts, the house-to-house programmes will go on for three days.”
