Members of various women’s organisations, joined by several male counterparts, paid tributes to the Delhi gang-rape victim in Kolar on Monday.
Functionaries of Jagrithi Seva Samsthe, Vimochana Mahila Hakkugala Vedike and Mukta Mahila Vedike gathered at the Gandhi Park to mourn the death of the para-medical student.
The mourners observed a minute’s silence and lit candles in her memory.
The gathering demanded stringent punishment to the accused and a harsh law to handle cases of rape and atrocities against women. “Womenfolk should not rest until they feel free in this country,” they said.
