Deputy Commissioner M.T. Reju inaugurated an exhibition of paintings, “Tribute to Raja Ravi Varma”, by artist Praveena Mohan and an exhibition of photographs, “Glimpses of Udupi”, by photojournalist Astro Mohan here on Thursday.

Sixteen paintings by Ms. Mohan and 24 photographs by Mr. Mohan are on display at the exhibition at Gallery Dristi behind Alankar Theatre here.

The exhibition is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. till January 29.

President of the Artists' Forum Ramesh Rao said that a State photography academy should be opened on the lines of Lalitha Kala (fine arts) Academy. Though this matter had been brought to the notice of the State government, there had been no positive response, he said.

Chief executive officer of Ekam Candles Vanitha Pai was present.
