The tiger that was trapped in a snare near Nidugumba village on the periphery of Nagarahole National Park in Kodagu district will be released into the woods soon.

The animal is being treated for minor injuries on its left foreleg at the Mysore zoo. The injuries were “not serious”, zoo officials said. Zoo executive director B.P. Ravi told The Hindu that the swelling of the female tiger’s leg had gone down and it was eating well.

“The moment we get an opinion from our vets that the tiger has recovered and is fit, we will make preparations for its release, mostly in the same habitat from where it strayed,” Mr. Ravi said.
