A park in Indiranagar may soon be taken over by the Transport Department for maintenance, according to officials from the department. Woodpark in Indiranagar 1st Stage will be transferred from the BBMP to the Transport Department once an MoU is signed, sources added.

At 6.30 am on Monday morning, joggers and officials from the Transport Department cleaned the park as part of an “environment protection programme.” Cloth bags were distributed to visitors to create awareness about the perils of plastic.

This is the department’s ‘first step’ to involve citizens in creating a cleaner city, the Transport Commissioner K Amaranarayan said. “Depending on the success of this programme we will look at other areas in the city,” he added.
