Bangalore: The Transport Department on Wednesday adopted a logo and released a compact disc which provides details on learner’s licence. It also launched an updated version of its website.

Speaking after launching the logo, Transport Minister R. Ashok said that the logo, representing roads, is aimed at creating an identification for the department.

“Now, people should easily be able to identify the services provided by the department at any place,” the Minister said, and added that the updated website not only provides easy access to information but offers direct communication between the citizen and the department.

“Graphic and other interactive features are a part of this website. We aim to minimise the dependency of people on the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) by providing email addresses and contact numbers of officials on the website,” said Transport Commissioner Bhaskar Rao.

The website also contains online information regarding driving and learner’s licences, all the application forms concerning the department, road safety regulations and other RTO services.

The CDs, Mr. Rao said, provide a basic pre-test training for all learner’s licence aspirants. As the department has not reserved the copyright over the contents of the CD, it can be used or copied by any person without any regulation, he added.
