Traffic in the Gulbarga Super Market area disrupted for five hours
GULBARGA: Traders and members of the Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKCCI) led by its president Umakant Nigudgi on Friday staged a rasta roko here to protest against the Gulbarga City Corporation's failure to provide basic amenities to the people.
Traffic in the Super Market area was disrupted for nearly five hours. Mr. Nigudgi accused officials of the corporation of being indifferent to the problems faced by the people.
Mr. Nigudgi and other members of the chamber took Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey and city corporation Commissioner S.P. Mudhol to the Super Market region and showed them the clogged drains, heaps of garbage and lack of cleanliness there. They complained to the Deputy Commissioner that the corporation authorities were not responding to the complaints of traders to take steps to clear garbage and clean clogged drains.
Mr. Pandey said that he would direct the officials to take steps to maintain cleanliness in the Super Market region. He promised that he would look into the complaints of the alleged substandard roadworks in the region.
The Deputy Commissioner said that he would hold discussions with the corporation officials on the problems faced by traders.
The traders demanded that the contact given for building the road in the area be cancelled immediately.
