From March 31, all premium services of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and Tamil Nadu State Road Transport Corporation bound for Tamil Nadu will start from the Shanthinagar terminus of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation.

At present, some 25 Airavat (Volvo) services of KSRTC and 10 air-conditioned services of Tamil Nadu corporations depart from Kempegowda Bus Station. Because of downsizing of KBS on account of Namma Metro underground station construction work at KBS, KSRTC has decided to shift the Tamil Nadu-bound premium services to Shanthinagar.

A press release said that premium services bound to Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi and Pondicherry will start from Shanthinagar from March 31.

KSRTC Director (Operations) K.A. Rajkumar told The Hindu that in all, about 150 services will start from Shanthinagar. The space available is adequate, though on Fridays, a little rush would be witnessed due to heavy footfalls and operation of additional services to cater to the weekend rush, he said.
