The Chamarajanagar town police arrested Chamarajanagar Town Municipal Council (TMC) member R.P. Nanjundaswamy of the BSP here on Thursday on the charge of assaulting municipal commissioner Prakash and preventing him from discharging his duties.

There was a heated argument between Mr. Prakash and Nanjundaswamy, during which they almost came to blows, regarding alleged large-scale misappropriation of funds while constructing a solid waste collection unit.

The public and office staff had to prevent them from getting into a fight.

Later, Nanjundaswamy, along with his supporters, staged a dharna and alleged that Mr. Prakash had abused him.

However, the town police took Nanjundaswamy into custody after Mr. Prasad filed a complaint accusing him of assault. Nanjundaswamy also filed a complaint against Mr. Prakash.
