In a curious development, the Bharatiya Janata Party has complained to the Chief Electoral Officer that the Janata Dal (Secular) State unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy’s announcement that he would be visiting Ajmer Dargah before releasing the list of candidates amounts to violation of the code of conduct. However, JD(S) leader Basavaraj Horatti said it was ridiculous to call it a violation, considering BJP’s history of seeking blessings of gods and goddesses before any event. “If the BJP leaders can seek blessings of Chamundeshwari and Nanjundeshwara, why can’t Mr. Kumaraswamy go to Ajmer Dargarh?” he said.
