Stona 2010 will be held from February 4 to 7
Bangalore: Now here is an exhibition that will literally rock. The All-India Granites and Stone Association has organised Stona 2010, the ninth international granites and stone fair, from February 4 to 7 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. The fair is co-sponsored by Government of Karnataka with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as the co-organiser.
According to a press release, soon after the announcement of Stona 2010 90 per cent of the stalls were snapped up while there has been a 30 per cent increase in the number of stalls compared with Stona 2008.
Stona 2010 will have over 2,000 stalls and will see the participation of around 400 exhibitors.
Such fairs have created awareness worldwide about the country’s exotic natural stones such as granites, marbles, sandstones, slates and similar ornamental building stones. As part of the fair, the association has also taken up an artisan promotion programme. Under the title Shilpagram, a special area will be provided where artisans from all over the country will work on different natural stones. The association has organised a seminar, “Geology, Mines Safety and Environment”, on February 5. Experts will deliberate on resources and utility of natural stones. The seminar has been organised with support from Department of Mines and Geology, Geological Survey of India, Indian Bureau of Mines, and Geological Society of India.
Another seminar for architects, builders and interior decorators will be held on the same day.
