BANGALORE: Three men who came in an autorickshaw robbed a housewife of her gold chain estimated at Rs. 20,000 in Girinagar police station limits on Tuesday.

The police said that around 7.45 p.m. Manjula Bai was standing in front of her house on 13th Main, Nagendra Block. Three men arrived there in an autorickshaw and enquired about an address from her. As she was talking to them, the three snatched Manjula Bai’s gold chain and sped away in the autorickshaw. The Girinagar police have registered a case.


Burglars struck at Ananda Murthy’s house in Doddamavalli and made away with gold ornaments valued at Rs. 1 lakh.

The police said that when Murthy and his family members were away from their house for a few days, the thieves had entered the house and looted the jewellery from an almirah. On a complaint by Murthy, the Kalasipalyam police registered a case on Tuesday.


The Yelahanka police have arrested four youths on the charge of vehicle theft and recovered from them 19 two-wheelers, in all valued at Rs. 13 lakh. The arrested were identified as Jagadish (20), Murali (21), Rajesh (20) and Sunil (19), all from Siddlaghatta town in Chikballapur district.

In another case, the Cubbon Park police, on Tuesday, arrested two youths and recovered from them a motorcycle they had allegedly stolen from Wilson Garden police station limits.

The police gave the names of the accused as K.P. Ganesh (21) and Pratesh Kumar (21), both from Shimoga district.


A 24-year-old call centre employee committed suicide by hanging himself to death from a ceiling fan of his room in B. Narayanapura on Wednesday, according to the Mahadevapura Police.

The police said that Sailesh was working as a trainer in the call centre. A week ago, he was suspended by the company for misbehaviour.
