Bangalore: The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, will hold a three-day seminar on “Institutional Structure of Social Science Research” from Sunday on its campus here to commemorate the birth centenary celebrations of the founder of the institute the late Vijayendra Kasturi Ranga Varadaraja (V.K.R.V.) Rao.

Addressing presspersons here, S.L. Rao, Chairman of the Board of Governors, ISEC, said Governor Rameshwar Thakur would preside and Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session. Eminent social scientists from India and abroad would participate in the conference.

University Grants Commission Chairman Sukhdeo Thorat; Indian Council of Social Science Research member-secretary T.C.A. Ananth; Cornell University Professor (Economics) Ravi Kanbur; Director of Centre for Analytic Economics of Cornell University Kaushik Basu; Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS) former Director C. T. Kurien; former Karnataka Chief Secretary A. Ravindra; former Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University M.V. Nadakarni; sociologist T.K. Oommen; economist G. Thimmaiah and social scientists would participate in the seminar, Prof. Rao said.

The valedictory address would be delivered by Chairman of the Indian Council for Social Science Research Javeed Alam.
