BANGALORE: An official from the Education Department and two gram panchayat officials have been found guilty of accepting bribe.

The Gadag Principal District and Sessions Judge sentenced B.A. Sali and M.C. Tadasi, the Administrative Officer and Secretary of Rajuru Gram Panchayat in Gadag to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 17,500.

They were found guilty of accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000 to issue sanction order for a granite plant. The Bijapur Principal District and Sessions Judge sentenced Laxman Saibavva Choragi, a superintendent in the Sindhagi Block Education, to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000.
