Bangalore: The influenza A(H1N1) death toll touched 89 in the State on Thursday with three more deaths being reported in Bangalore and Mysore.

While a 39-year-old man died in a private hospital in Bangalore, a 45-year-old man died in a government hospital. Another 35-year-old man died in a private hospital in Mysore.

Although these persons died three days ago, but their reports were received on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 21 more persons tested positive on Friday taking the number of confirmed cases in the State to 955. These include 12 from Bangalore and five from Bijapur, according to a release issued by the State Health Department.


Health and Family Welfare Minister B. Sriramulu on Thursday said the State Government would blacklist all such medical dealers who sell Tamiflu in violation of the Schedule X norms.

“The Union Health Ministry has allowed sale of Tamiflu by authorised medical dealers as a Schedule X drug. This means the patient should get two prescriptions from the doctor and both have to be stamped by the dealer to indicate that the prescription had been used. If anyone sells it without prescription illegally, they will be blacklisted and criminal cases booked against them,” the Minister said.
