Three persons were killed and two others severely injured when the car in which they were travelling rammed a truck parked on the Tumkur highway near Madanayakanahalli on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Venkatesh Gowda (55), Srinivas (53) and Esappa (50), residents of Ramamurthy Nagar. The injured, Kiran, and driver Chandra were admitted to hospital and are said to be critical. The victims had hired a car and were going towards Nelamangala when the accident occurred.

The Madanayakanahalli police said that the incident took place at around 11.30 p.m. The Madanayakanalli police have registered a case against the truck driver for parking on the highway leading to the accident.

Woman run over

A 43-year-old woman died after she slipped from the BMTC bus and came under its wheels in Majestic bus-stand on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Meera from Salem in Tamil Nadu. Meera had come to the city along with her husband and children to meet her sister.

On Monday morning, they got down at Majestic and went to BMTC bus-stand. While she was trying get into the bus, it started moving as a result she lost balance and slipped under the wheels.

With severe head injuries, Meera was rushed to a private hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
