In an early morning operation here on Thursday, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three persons for alleged involvement in the II PU question paper leak.
The police have seized the original question paper of physics subject from the arrested persons. The physics examination was scheduled for Thursday but it was postponed after the paper leak.
The policemen attached to the Women and Narcotics Squad, based on information, raided Ramdev Sagar Lodge on Old Madras Road in K.R. Puram and arrested the accused, the CCB told The Hindu.
The names of the arrested persons were given as Ashwath Chowde Gowda (34) of Honnaru village in Sidlaghatta, Sudarshan Shivanna (45) from Gayathri Pura here and Ranjith Ramesh (27) from Katriguppe near Banashankari here.
Rs. 40,000 each
The arrested persons, small-time realtors, have reportedly told the police that they sold the photocopies of the physics question paper to several persons after collecting Rs. 40,000 from each one of them.
Investigation revealed that Naveen Kumar alias Puttaraju and Ajay Kumar from Mogabala village near Hoskote, and Shashikala, a principal of a reputed private college, are the racketeers, according to the police. A search has been launched for them.
In connection with the case, R. Subrahmanya, Assistant Director (PU Board), has filed a criminal case under certain sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Karnataka Education Act 1983 with the Girinagar police.
