The Gulbarga police claimed to have solved a case of dacoity that occurred two weeks ago. The police said they had taken three persons into custody while another three were absconding. They said that one of the accused was the son of a police constable.

Additional Superintendent of Police Kashinath Talakeri said the three in custody were Anil Doshe (21), a pre-university student, school dropout Ajitkumar Patil (19), and Anand Hanumanth Rampure (18), a painter.

He said that the police had recovered two motorcycles and gold ornaments weighing 15 grams, worth over Rs. 1.5 lakh and Rs. 5,000 in cash. Mr. Talakeri said that the dacoits had waylaid six people travelling in two motorcycles on the Gulbarga-Afzalpur road and beaten them up before escaping with the motorcycles, ornaments and cash.

He said a special team of police under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police H. Thimmappa arrested the accused on the Gulbarga-Afzalpur road on Tuesday.
