Three persons, including two women, have been arrested and 25 kg of marijuana seized from them. The approximate value of the material was put at Rs. 2 lakh.

Sub-inspector, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Bellary, M. Bheemanna, and his staff made the arrests here on Thursday. Mr. Bheemanna said he saw the three people during his rounds and, on suspicion, enquired about their whereabouts. When they failed to give a convincing reply, he searched the five bags with them and found the substance.

The arrested have been identified as Yellappa (55), his wife, Nagamma (48) and Lingavva (45), all residents of Vidyanagar at Gadag-Betageri. They have been handed over to the Railway police.
