Six murders were reported in Davangere district between October 1 and December 31 last year. Five of the cases have been solved, said H.S. Venkatesh, Superintendent of Police.
He was addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
Presenting the tri-monthly crime data, he said five robbery cases had been reported in the past three months and the police had cleared five cases during the period, including three cases reported earlier.
Two cases of rape had been reported in the district and both of them had been detected and the suspects arrested. More than five persons were arrested in connection with five cases of dowry harassment, Mr. Venkatesh said and added that three women lost their lives owing to dowry harassment. All the three cases had been detected and arrests had been made.
Over 48 theft cases were reported in the district and 28 of them had been detected.
In addition, there were a few cases of chain snatching, burglary and dacoity in which property worth Rs. 27,98,385 was involved.
The police had solved several cases and arrested many persons in connection with those cases. Property worth Rs.19,91,130 had been recovered from the arrested persons.
Mr. Venkatesh said that the department was planning to conduct one more property parade soon so that people could identify their stolen property.
