Varadanayaka (Kannada)

Director: Ayyappa P. Sharma

Cast: Kiccha Sudeep, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Sameera Reddy, Nikita Patel and Ravishankar

A typical revenge drama, Varadanayaka is a remake of Lakshyam , a 2007 Telugu blockbuster.

There is nothing new in the storyline. The movie is tailor-made to suit Sudeep’s image. And the director succeeds in his attempt.

Though Chiranjeevi Sarja, popularly known as Chiru, has a romantic track interspersed with comedy and action, it is Sudeep who draws the limelight.

He plays the role of Telugu counterpart Jagapathi Babu as a tough police officer. The film opens with a flashback — a bride running away from her wedding and a hero escaping police custody.

Then the story swings back. Assistant Commissioner of Police Varadanayaka (Sudeep), police officer, is married to Sameera Reddy and lives with his parents and brother Hari (Chiru).

Hari is in love with his classmate Shirisha (Nikita Patel).

Enter Section Shankar (Ravishankar), villain, who is known for killing people without leaving evidence. Another police officer (Sharat Lohitashwa) is his partner in crime.

The story takes a twist when Shankar borrows Rs. 100 crore from a bank. When it’s time to repay, Shankar eliminates the chairman of the bank without leaving any trace.

In the melee, the ACP who tries to solve the mystery is killed by Shankar. With this, Hari vows to take revenge for his brother’s murder. Suspense lies in how the younger brother succeeds.
