A theatre education centre for children , ‘Dharasa’, has begun functioning here.

Inaugurating the centre on Wednesday, chairman of the Karnataka Bal Vikas Academy Mahesh Tenginakai said that although children were blessed with abundant talent, they did not get the required encouragement from their parents.

The programme was jointly organised by the district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat and the Ranga Samaj.

Mr. Tenginakai said children had in them creativity, the power of knowledge and self-interest, and it was necessary that parents encouraged them to explore the fields of their interest.

Extracurricular activities went a long way in developing children’s personality, he said.
