Actor Vidya Balan is leaving no stone unturned to promote her upcoming movie, The Dirty Picture , breezing through several pit-stops in the city on Friday to promote the movie.
The actor stopped over at the Lalit Ashok, Only Vimal on M.G. Road and Radio One, in the run-up to the December 2 release. The much-hyped film, reportedly inspired by the life of the unparalleled cult queen Silk Smita, is directed by Milan Luthria, produced by Shoba Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, and stars Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi.
At a press conference here, Vidya strenuously denied it was the sultry sex siren's biopic. “I'm playing Silk, a dancing star in the 1980s and 1990s who wears her heart on her sleeve. This is my toughest role till date as the character of Silk is a woman who is volatile about her sexuality and is yet [childlike]. So striking the balance was difficult.”
Emraan Hashmi, who was to accompany Vidya to Bangalore, failed to turn up as he took ill just as he was about to fly out of Mumbai, according to a source.
