MANGALORE: The regional round of The Hindu Young World quiz will be held here on November 2. Students from the 10th, 11th and 12th standards (pre-university) can participate. Two students from a school or college can form a team. A maximum of three teams will be admitted from an institute.

A preliminary written contest will be held to select six teams for the finals. The winning team from the region will qualify for the all-India finals to be held in Madurai on November 14. The Hindu will meet the cost of travel, boarding and lodging of one escort and the team selected for the finals. A cash prize of Rs. 8,000 will be given to the team that comes first in the regional-level contest. Teams that secure second and third places will be given Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 4,000, respectively. A cash prize of Rs. 16,000 will be given to the team that wins the final contest. Invitations along with entry cards to participate in the regional round have been sent to schools and colleges.

The last date for submitting entry forms is October 31.The quiz will be held at the Town Hall at 2 p.m. Participants are requested to be at the venue by 1.15 p.m. For more details, call 0824-2417575-80.
