It will be a colourful Sunday for students of The Hindu ’s NIE schools. The finals of this year’s edition of the popular event, The Hindu Young World Painting Competition, will take place on Sunday, 9 a.m. onwards.
The venue is the Army Public School, Kamaraj Road.
The painting competition, an integral part of The Hindu ’s NIE programme, is happening in 15 cities across south India. Aimed at promoting healthy competition among schools, the competition is open to students from Classes 4 to 7 in the junior category and from Classes 8 to 10 in the senior category.
For the finals, the short-listed participants are given topics which they have to express through their painting skills.
The winners will go home with cash prizes worth Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 in the senior category and Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 in the junior category.
There is also a consolation prize of Rs. 500 each for seven participants in both the categories.
The presenting sponsor of the event is MIOT Hospitals, while Amrutanjan and Dabur are associate sponsor. The regional sponsors are Max Life Insurance and Just Books.
Selected participants are expected to assemble at the venue before 8.30 a.m. for registration.
