Film buffs in the city can look forward to watching the best films from around the world.

The Karnataka Chalana Chitra Academy in association with the Chitra Film Society, Dharwad, has organised an international film festival from November 10 to 13 at Dr. Annaji Rao Sirur Auditorium here.

Rare films

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Jnanpith Award-winner Girish Karnad said some rare films would be screened at the event.

Other than Indian films, films from China, the U.S., Italy, Japan, Sweden, Algeria, South Africa, Israel, Romania, Argentina, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Iran, Germany, France and Russia will be screened. Highlights include Charlie Chaplin's City Lights, Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali and Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor.

Passes for the festival cost Rs. 100 for adults and Rs. 50 for students and are available at Karnataka College, Manohar Grantha Mala and Lakshmi Bhavan on Subhas Road.


The inaugural function will be held on November 10 at 2.30 p.m. A symposium will be held on November 13 at 10.30 a.m. and the valedictory ceremony will be held on the same day at 5 p.m.
