Some suspects were away in connection with other cases

HUBLI: The First Additional District and Sessions Judge Bopaiah fixed November 18 as the next hearing on the terror suspects case.

After nine of the 16 terror suspects, allegedly having links with SIMI, were produced before him on Tuesday, the Judge announced the next date for hearing and asked the police to produce all the 16 accused in the case on the next date of hearing.

The accused who were produced before the Judge were Asadullah Abubkar, Shakil Ahmed Mali, Allahbaksh Yadwad, Yahyakhan, Syed Sadiq, Mohammed Yasin, Mohammed Ansar, Munroz Zama and P.A. Shadoli.

The Public Prosecutor C.S. Patil told the court that the police could not present all the accused before the court as some of them had been taken to Madhya Pradesh in connection with various cases against them there.

Ismail D. Jalagar, counsel for Shakil Mali and Allahbaksh Yadwad, appealed to the court for the release of his clients saying there wasn’t sufficient evidence regarding their involvement in terror activities. The court has posted the case for hearing on November 4.
