To enlighten the public about the contributions of the church in the field of religion, social, culture and education, a 26-episode teleserial will be telecast on Doordarshan Chandana every Sunday from March 31.
The serial, titled Divya Sannidhi , will highlight the historic role of churches and the various services offered by them to society.
The first episode, on March 31 at 8 p.m., will be on the oldest church of the city, the St. Mary’s Basilica in Shivajinagar.
The serial is directed by Sebastian Rayappa of Thambuchettipalya and produced by David Doddabasavanapura.
The script is by Marie Joseph, Sriswamy, B.S. Talwadi, music is by James, videography by Anthonyswamy (Roshan Studio), Manjunath and Deepak and graphics by Purnima.
National director of Pontifical Mission Society India, Fr. Faustine L. Lobo, told presspersons here churches too have a decisive role in the overall development of the State.
They have been serving the people through educational institutions, hospitals and other service wings. The serial is an attempt to make public aware of the valuable services done by these churches.
“We intend to cover over 120 churches across the State,” he said.
