‘Salary has been withheld for the past six months’
GULBARGA: Members of the Gulbarga University Private College Teachers Association staged a dharna on Monday in front of the office of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education here. They were protesting against the decision of the State Government to not release the salary of teachers working in aided colleges that had not been accorded B grade accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
President of the association B.S. Makal and general secretary Eashwarayya Mutt said that the State Government had withheld the salary of teachers working in 26 private degree colleges for the past six months.
Terming the decision illegal, the leaders of the association said that such a decision had not been taken in any other State.
The condition was not made clear to the teachers earlier. This only exhibited the “anti-teacher” and “anti-education” stance of the State Government, they charged.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff have been denied salary.
