Members of the Karnataka State High School Teachers' Association on Saturday took out a protest march in Karwar demanding steps to resolve the pension issue of teachers of aided high schools who were recruited after 2006.

The members submitted a memorandum to the government through the tahsildar demanding an immediate solution to the problem.

The teachers said that those who were recruited after 2006 had to pay 10 per cent of their salary and dearness allowance as their contribution towards the retirement fund.

But for teachers who were working in government high schools, the government contributed equal amount to the retirement fund. But teachers who were working in private-aided high schools were facing a piquant situation as the school managements were not ready to contribute their share, they alleged.
