The sports fraternity’s leading lights made a beeline to Vasanthnagar here Sunday as physio V. Muthukumar launched Stride, his spine and sports rehab clinic.

Well known to athletes

Mr. Muthukumar, who was earlier associated with the Karnataka cricket team and the National Cricket Academy, is well known to athletes.

Inaugurating the facility, Indian tennis doubles player Rohan Bopanna said: “This is a good initiative. I have known Muthu for a long while and it was he who helped me recover well from a shoulder surgery. Rehabilitation that would have taken months was done in six weeks. We do have sports clinics that do ultrasound and other tests but a clinic like this is a first where we have a person who will provide treatment on the spot. It is important to have someone who will physically monitor our injuries and progress.”

Former badminton star Vimal Kumar, current Indian player Arvind Bhat, former cricketers Brijesh Patel and Avinash Vaidya and present player Mithun Beerala and a host of others associated with sports, turned up at the event.
