Trust training coordinator Asif Makandar told presspersons here on Thursday that matches would be held simultaneously at R.N. Shetty stadium and SDM Dental College ground, Sattur. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would inaugurate the tournament on Sunday, he said.

Fifty-six visually-challenged cricketers from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bihar would take part in the tournament.

Participants would be divided into four teams and each would have round robin matches for three days.

The national selection committee would shortlist 23 best players in the tournament for the national team, which would participate in the international T20 cricket tournament in Bangalore in December.

Lions Club Dharwad president Ushma Desai said the club would sponsor 12 trophies, including seven for the ‘man of the match’ and one for the winner. Cash prizes would be given for best fielder, batsmen and bowler. Winners would get a purse of Rs. 15,000, she added.
