Audiologists and ENT specialists from Karnataka and other States took part in a national symposium on ‘Evaluation and management of vestibular problems', organised by the Department of Audiology, All-India Institute of Speech and Hearing, here recently.
Information was imparted through lectures and video demonstrations.
M.V. Kirtane, Professor Emeritus, SGS Medical College, Mumbai, and consultant, ENT, at Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, was the main resource person.
The symposium was organised to explain the role of the vestibular system, causes of balance problems and also the assessment and management of vestibular disorders, a press release said here.
The focus of the symposium was on several issues in evaluation and management of balance problems associated with the involvement of the vestibular system.
Dr. Kirtane was also the chief guest at the inaugural function of the symposium.
Vijayalakshmi Basavaraj, director, presided.
On the occasion, the institute's calendar was released.
P. Manjula, professor and HoD-Audiology, and Animesh Barman, Reader in Audiology, were present.
