Udupi: The Paryaya Puttige Math will be launching its “Suyoga-Swodyoga” programme here on October 18. It aims at training the youth and members of self help groups (SHGs) in various skills leading to self-employment.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of the Paryaya Puttige Math said that the training programme would cover various fields, including apparel making, food processing, jasmine cultivation, production of energised food, manufacture of paper napkins, leaf plates, and others. It would empower the trained people to set up own business, the swamiji said.

Separate institute

The math would open an institute, Suyoga Self-employment Training Institute, for this purpose. Five classrooms of the institute had been constructed at the Gita Mandir, near Krishna Temple.

‘Permanent scheme’

The training would continue even after his paryaya period as it was a permanent programme. A Suyoga self-employment information camp would be held here on October 18. About 2,000 people from various SHGs were expected to attend the training camp. The camp would be held in association with the Department of Women and Child Welfare, he said.The Ports Minister, J. Krishna Palemar will inaugurate the camp. Higher Education Minister Arvind Limbavali will participate in the inaugural function, the swamiji said.
