Bangalore: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that it is the prerogative of the Speaker to initiate action against the legislators who indulged in unruly behaviour in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

He told presspersons that the behaviour of the Opposition members during the election of the Speaker was unfortunate.

“The Government had no role in the election. It is the prerogative of the Speaker,” he said.

Meanwhile, three MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party — B.N. Vijayakumar, S.R. Vishwanath and N.S. Nandish Reddy — have addressed a letter to the Speaker urging him to suspend four members (Zameer Ahmed, Kakasaheb Patil, H.C. Balakrishna and A. Manju) for the remaining part of the term of the Legislative Assembly since they climbed on to the Speaker’s podium and indulged in acts which were against the respect and dignity of the legislature.
