HASSAN:Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh made a surprise visit to three cold storage units on the outskirts of Hassan on Wednesday, where seed potato from West Bengal is stored.

On his direction, Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) M.S. Ranganath took a written undertaking from the owners of these cold storages that they would not sell seed potato, which was rotten and unfit for sowing, until June 30, 2010.

President of APMC Lakshman;vice-president H.M. Krishna Murthy; president of Zilla Krishik Samaj Krishne Gowda; Joint Director for Agriculture H.P. Mahesh Gowda; Deputy Director Horticulture Nagaraj; Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha district unit president Ninge Gowda and other office-bearers, and Merchants' Association office-bearers were also present, when the undertaking was signed by the cold storage owners, Mr. Ranganath said.
