The Special Lokayukta Court on Tuesday issued summons to the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, his sons B.Y. Raghavendra and B.Y. Vijayendra, and son-in-law R.N. Sohan Kumar in one of the five land grab and corruption cases filed against them by Sirajin Bhasha and K.N. Balraj. They, along with the other accused, have been asked to appear in court on August 29.
The same court issued summons to Mr. Yeddyurappa on August 8 and asked him, his kin and associates to appear before it on August 27 in connection with another case of land grab filed by Mr. Bhasha and Mr. Balraj.
The present case involves the denotification of land in Begur (Bangalore South), Shimoga, Rachenahalli (Bangalore North) and Banashankari 6th Stage (Bangalore South). It also involves the illegal conversion of agricultural land for residential purposes in Anekal — a deal in which the alleged beneficiary was the then Muzrai Minister S.N. Krishnaiah Setty.
In another development in the same court, the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his wife, Anitha Kumaraswamy, filed anticipatory bail applications in a case in which they have been charged with issuing mining licences, in violation of norms, to a mining company.
The Special Lokayukta Court also framed charges against Y. Sampangi, former Kolar Gold Fields MLA, who has been charged with accepting a Rs. 5-lakh bribe. The case has been posted for September 9.
