An incident of ragging has been reported from the Morarji Desai Residential School at Tirthahalli in Shimoga district. It is said that senior students asked their juniors to carry out their orders last night. The latter were then reportedly beaten with belts and lathis those who did not obey them. Nearly 25 boys who were injured in the incident were admitted to the J.C. General Hospital at Tirthahalli. The school had gained notoriety for ragging in the last six months and it took a serious turn with the authorities concerned not taking any suitable action. Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat A.B. Hemachandra who visited the school kept the warden Pavitranandan Raju and the cooking supervisor Kantappa under suspension. — Special Correspondent
