The Goa Convention of Workers (GCW) has declared the two-day strike on Wednesday and Thursday a success. Over a lakh workers from industries, banks, insurance companies, public sector undertakings and transport sector participated in it, they said.
On Thursday, a series of mass rallies were organised at various industrial estates, with union leaders addressing the workers.
A procession of over 2,000 workers from 15 units at Verna Industrial Estate in south Goa culminated in a mass meeting near Kare Laboratories. Verna Mazdoor Ektta Committee general secretary Kalidas Naik, All-India Trade Union Congress Goa State committee president Prasanna Utagi and other leaders addressed the rally.
Rallies were held at Ponda, Kundaim, Bethora, Karasswada, Cuncolim, Dattawadi, Zuarinagar and Bicholim Industrial Estates.
Members of KTC Drivers and Allied Employees’ Association held a dharna at Panaji and other places, said reports coming from various parts of the State.
